Soil Identification

People showed since centuries that they knew how to identify soils with their senses and they proved that earth building can last long as can testify it one of the oldest archaeological sites of a city built with earth: the rest of the city of Mari in Syria, founded in ~2800 BC.

The Auroville Earth Institute attempts linking modern science and knowledge of the 21st century with the ancestral tradition and knowledge of earth builders who knew, millennia back how to build so long lasting structures.

The Auroville Earth Institute teaches soil identification with only sensitive analyses. Laboratory tests are not showed, as the common man will have difficulties to access laboratories and have proper specifications for earth construction.

These sessions are part of the regular course for the production of CSEB. Special courses can be scheduled upon request, preferably at Auroville but also elsewhere in the world. Note that these soil identifications are especially adapted for the production of CSEB or Rammed Earth.
